Apr. 23, 2018 ~ The Parable of the Oyster (Week 41)

Image
Hey hey! How is it already Monday? This week flew! Things here are going well! I'm happy... and I love my companion and area and missionaries with whom I serve. I'll be sad to leave this area when the time comes! Today we went on a sisters P-Day with all of the sisters in our mission. It was amazing. I'm convinced I serve in the most beautiful mission in the world. 😍😍😍 . (I enjoyed visiting with my previous companion!) We went to the coast and saw lots of pretty rocks and the ocean. Haha not really sure how else to describe it so be sure to look at the pics 😉😙 . This week was cool. We found a lot of new investigators and have been progressing well with the ones we already have… We were looking for a referral and accidentally knocked the wrong door. A man named Mario opened the door. He explained that he used to be a gang banger and just got out from serving 20 years in prison. We talked to him about bapti...

Apr. 16. 2018 ~ A letter from my companion... (Week 40)

Dear friends and family, Today we are lucky enough to have a “guest writer”… my companion, Sister Londono! Enjoy the letter she wrote… Hello people of the world! I am so sorry—I have literally no time so please accept this small offering in place of personally written emails. I promise I love you all lots and lots and wish I could speak to each and every one of you. This week we found a guy named Rameses. "Rameses is de best, he sets de people all on fiiiiiiire." We'll be teaching him tomorrow, which I'm pretty psyched about. Elder Stutz, our friend, went home for medical reasons and so basically it feels like people are dropping like flies... Luckily, I still got my homie Sister Brooks with me. Also, I almost got killed by a chihuahua named Bieber. Named after Justin Bieber. On Saturday we were out contacting and somehow, we ended up at a member's home. She wa...

Apr. 9, 2018 ~ Nothing so EXQUISITE and SWEET as was my JOY (Week 39)

Wow, this week was pretty dang adventurous. I'm super happy here in California. I love the members, our investigators, and the missionaries I get to serve with. It's kind of crazy how complete strangers turn into best friends... My heart is happy. 💛💛 1. NHA'S FAMILY GOT BAPTIZED!! It was one of the best moments I've had on my mission. I will never forget the look on their faces as each one of them came out of the water. There were sooo many HUGE SMILES, HAPPY TEARS, AND HUGS!!! Their family has completely changed my life. Nha's mom doesn't speak any English whatsoever, but as we have seen her frequently and gotten to know her family, it has been incredible how much we have come to love her. Even though we can't exchange a single word between us, her hugs and smiles let us know that the love we feel for her is mutual. You can see in her eyes and through her actions that her testimony is incredibly strong. She has expressed her gratitude...

Apr. 2, 2018 ~ How well do you know HIM? (Week 38)

Hello friends and fam!   The work here is moving forward! It has been so fun to be a part of. The sisters that we live with had a baptism yesterday (her name is Martha), and we will be having a few next week! I'm super happy with the work here! Conference was awesome. I unfortunately didn't really get to watch the last session because our investigators dropped their kids off with us in the English-speaking room and left to listen in Vietnamese. So, we ended up babysitting. Ha.   But luckily, an elder with us brought himself a bag of snacks that he shared with the kids ... 😅 So, I'm going to have to go back and re-watch that session or read the talks when I get a chance. But what I heard, I loved. And what I didn't hear, I know I will love. :) President Nelson is so awesome. I am so grateful to be a part of the true church with a living prophet and apostles to lead and direct us. Our church is so cool. 😎😎😎 Th...
