Oct. 23, 2017 ~ I STAND ALL AMAZED (Week 15)
(Last week) was probably the best week my companion and I had as far as the numbers go: we taught over 25 lessons, found 6 new investigators and pretty much just worked, worked, worked!
We have found a few other people who seem promising. Families and young people seem to be the most receptive.... Hopefully some things take off with the new people we have found the past couple of weeks.
Right now I'm reading the Book of Mormon and highlighting every time it mentions Jesus Christ by name (for example, Lord, Lamb of God, Messiah, Redeemer, etc.). It's amazing to see His name highlighted on every page. My testimony about the Book of Mormon truly being Another Testament of Jesus Christ has grown immensely. (I've decided to restart in a fresh Book of Mormon every time I read it so that I don't have any previous marks from before. It's cool how different things stick out to me each time I read it.)
I'm also reading the New Testament... Wow, I LOVE my Savior. My testimony has grown so much of Him. The more I study Jesus Christ and His life and His love, the less I seem to comprehend his perfection. It blows my mind how someone so kind and loving and sinless could love not only those sinners and publicans who killed Him, but also me and every one else. His atonement truly is the greatest gift God could have ever given us--- for without it, we would never be able to return to live with Him and with our families forever...
I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,
Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified,
That for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died.
I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine
To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine,
That he should extend his great love unto such as I,
Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify.
I think of his hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt
Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget?
No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat,
Until at the glorified throne I kneel at his feet.
Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me
Enough to die for me!
Oh, it is wonderful, (ABSOLUTELY) wonderful to me!
(Text and music: Charles H. Gabriel, 1856–1932)
The Atonement of Jesus Christ was for all mankind, and yet it was personal for each of us.
Such can be our relationship with Him...
Though he knows all mankind, he knows (each of ) us personally.
It's ironic how much more I have come to know that as I have gotten to know Him...
I'm grateful to be here.
Love,
Hermana Brooks
