Sept. 10. 2018 ~ A Testimony of Jesus Christ is Based on the Law of the Harvest (Week 61)

Okay folks.
I guess it's been a minute! Time flies!

Things here are great.
We have some awesome people we are teaching.

Here is an update for the masses...

1. The Alvarado family. We invited them to be baptized and they are praying about a date! Please pray that they'll come to church! I love them so so much.

2. Michael & Meredith. They're a dream couple that just moved here from N.Y. and are attending our English ward. They're such incredible people and teaching them is really fun. They are just genuinely interested and are willing to do whatever they can to obtain testimonies for themselves. They EXASPERATEDLY told us "we feel good after 3 hours of church!" As if to ask how that was possible. Haha they're wonderful.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf said, "The testimony of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel will help us in our lives... It gives us assurance of the reality, truth, and goodness of God, of the teachings and Atonement of Jesus Christ, and of the divine calling of latter-day prophets. Our testimony motivates us to live righteously, and righteous living will cause our testimony to grow stronger…

The process to receive one (a testimony) is based on the law of the harvest: “For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). No good thing comes without effort and sacrifice. If we have to work hard to obtain a testimony, it will make us and our testimony even stronger. And if we share our testimony, it will grow.

A testimony is a most precious possession because it is not acquired by logic or reason alone, it cannot be purchased with earthly possessions, and it cannot be given as a present or inherited from our ancestors. We cannot depend on the testimonies of other people. We need to know for ourselves…

How do we receive a personal testimony rooted in the witness of the Holy Ghost?
First: Desire to believe.
Second: Search the scriptures.
Third: Do the will of God; keep the commandments.
Fourth: Ponder, fast, and pray. To receive knowledge from the Holy Ghost, we must ask Heavenly Father for it. We must trust that God loves us and that He will help us to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost."
(Dieter F. Uchtdorf, The Power of a Personal Testimony, October 2006)

3. Some random people have shown up to our Spanish ward the past few weeks and have asked to be taught what we believe. Not mad 🤷🏼️.

4. Emily Arias is getting baptized next week.  She is 8. Her dad got baptized in November and we have been teaching their family weekly. I love them so much.

5. 7 hours of church does not make Sunday a "Day of Rest", But we love both of our wards. We usually teach one or 2 classes every Sunday between the wards plus sometimes I play the piano or, if we're lucky, we get to speak in sacrament meeting.
So we have stayed busy to say the least.
It's been really fun.

Our English-speaking ward has become very involved in missionary work; I think they finally trust the missionaries again! 😄 yay! It's been a great blessing to serve with and learn from the great people in that ward. The people here are wonderful.

6. California is beautiful.

7. My comp is wonderful. God knew I needed her.

8. Things are good! 😊 God is good! 😊

Love you all!!

Xoxo
