Nov. 6, 2017 ~ When Prayers Go Up.... Blessings Come Down (Week 17)

Hello Hello!

A few updates for the masses:

1. This is my last week as a greenie and then I will be done with training!

2. There is one less deer on the earth. (Sad 😔) We hit it driving home from dinner last Sunday. It was quite tragic. And our brand new car (the one that we got for my birthday) is in not-so-great of condition. We will most likely be walking/biking this week while it is in the shop.

3. We attended tons of Halloween parties and I wasn't mad about it!

(Playing a game with the kids at the ward Halloween party.)

4. My companion goes home in 6 weeks...  ☹
5. Last P-Day, we went to the beach and the aquarium. It was super awesome and I got to pet a stingray.
6. We also went to a famous restaurant called "Phil's" where I ate the best salmon of my life.

7. On Friday, it rained for the first time since I've been here!
I was in heaven!

8. It's been pretty darn cold, here!
Like in the 50s!

9. We finally set a real baptism date with an investigator! Her cousin also wants to be baptized as well as her uncle, so we will set dates with them this week. The work is progressing!

10. We have had investigators seemingly fall out of the sky...

A family asked to be taught at the Trunk-or-Treat,

we've found people knocking doors,

a random woman came up to us and gave us her phone number saying she wants to meet with us,

a man we had never met showed up to church yesterday and said he wanted to go there every Sunday (he went to the English ward and said he wanted to attend Spanish…. which we were happy about!),

AND we met another family who had been praying for something that would help them feel as if they have a purpose in life.

When prayers GO UP, something else has got to come down and we are grateful that it has been a shower of blessings!

11. L & J, the brothers who want to get baptized, are moving for 6 months. L is going to AZ and J is going to Mexico. We are super bummed, but they said they want to get baptized when they return. We set a date for April 22, 2018 but my companion will be home by then and chances are I won't be in this area anymore. Which is sad! ☹ But we are happy that they still want to be baptized! I love them so so much!

12. Here is a funny story for ya... We were at Target and a guy there was getting a bit too friendly in his conversation with me. I didn't even know how to make it clear that I was a missionary and uninterested in any sort of dating or flirting, so I gestured my hand towards my companion and in the middle of his sentence said, "This is my companion."  My intention was to let him know that I wasn't alone and that I was a missionary, but for some reason, those are the only words that came out of my mouth. He stopped talking for a few seconds and said, "Ohhhh".  Immediately knowing what he was thinking, I said, "Oh wait… no, no not like that," to which he responded, "Oh it's okay, I get it." I laughed uncomfortably and said, "No, like we are companions. We like live together and teach people together and shop together and stuff!" And he said, "It's okay, I get it. I don't think there's anything wrong with it." I tried AGAIN to explain to him that we were not, in fact, dating, but he just gave me a head nod and told me to have a good one. Sometimes I amaze myself at how uncomfortable I can cause situations to be. But I'm still laughing about it. At least he knew I wasn't interested  😂
13. Still love you all! Thank you for the letters and packages and prayers! I heard that my home ward fasted for the 11 missionaries from our ward. I appreciate your love and prayers and I know we are going to have a great week because of them!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Please pray that S will have a desire to keep her commitments and that she will be able to be baptized on the 26!
Also, that the heart of M’s husband will be softened towards us, and that he will agree for her to be baptized.

I love you all!

Continue to read from the Book of Mormon every day!
