May 28, 2018 ~ Change is hard but the gospel is so good! (Week 46)

Hi everyone!   Wow, where do I even start?! (Picture with Nha's sisters๐Ÿ˜ƒ) I guess I will start by saying that I have been transferred! My 7 months in the same area came to an abrupt halt this last Saturday night! A Spanish-speaking sister went home suddenly, causing a need for somebody to take her place. Because I was in a trio and have been in my area for so long, it made sense that I would leave. AND my greenie, Sister Thomas, came with me! President said he didn't feel good about splitting us up, so he moved her as well and now we are both in a new area together! This left the other sister in our trio alone, so the companion of the sister that went home, went to my old area to be with her ! So, we pretty much switched places!  I was really sad saying goodbye to my people in my previous area. Some of them I didn't even get to say goodbye to because it all happened so fast... But I am grateful for the many lifelo...

May 21, 2018 ~ "The Burdens on Your Shoulders..." (Week 45)

Hello Hello!     1. H ere's a cool little thing that happened recently... One of our members brought his sister, Maria, and her two kids, Luis and Alexis, to our ward party. I started talking to her and it turns out that she had met with the missionaries a few years back and had even come to church, but she wasn't super interested at the time and dropped them. As I got to know her and her situation a little bit more, we started talking about how hard it is to be a single mom... I began to speak about my Aunt Laylene, whom I love and admire so much. I shared the story of how my Uncle Dave passed away from cancer and Laylene was left to work and take care of 5 kids by herself. We talked about the strength that comes through the gospel of Jesus Christ and about coming to church. So, she decided to give the church another chance and came 2 Sundays ago. She LOVED IT! We taught her and her sons the Restoration last Thursday and t...

Hi everyone!   Wow, it was so nice to talk to my family yesterday. Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful women out there! I feel so grateful to have examples like you in my life. ๐Ÿ’• Quick updates: 1. We were in a lesson with Elias (our baptism date) and I requested that we sing a hymn before the prayer. OH WOW… it was a treat. They both were singing so high and off key that I literally lost it and started laughing so hard. But they didn't let my laughter stop them. I put my head down on the table and laughed, while they continued on for 3 more verses. I guess it runs in my family to laugh uncontrollably during spiritual musical numbers (shoutout to dad and Chet ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). 2. I clogged in the Chipotle restaurant. It's kind of a long and embarrassing story... But to make it short, one of our members was trying to convince me to dance at our upcoming ward party. I jokingly told him that I couldn't, because Latin dancing...

May 7, 2018 ~ The only real kind of happiness is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (Week 43)

Hi everyone!    (Saying goodbye to Sister Londono) This week I got two new companions! Sister Beutel became my companion on Tuesday and then on Thursday we got a new missionary! Our new missionary is Sister Thomas from Idaho and she could be my daughter (missionary joke because as her trainer I'm considered her mother). We have so much in common and people say we look similar so that's fun. I love her. ❤๐Ÿค— Our companionship is still trying to figure out the whole trio thing. But it's a party very much of the time ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค™ . To be honest, this week kind of felt like it was 12 years long. Pretty much all of our investigators said they didn't want to be baptized, and change can sometimes be hard... but I am grateful for the tender mercies that I received through the chaos and disappointment that comes with missionary work! On Sunday, Sister Cordero and I were able to accompany our recent convert, Sofia, to her patriarchal...
